Seventy four days ago, Hurrican Maria tore through Puerto Rico, bringing unprecedented damage to the island.

Unprecedented Destruction

Hurricane Maria has wreaked havoc on the island, causing a level of widespread destruction and disorganization paralleled by few storms in American history. Almost two weeks after the storm abated, most of the island’s residents still lack access to electricity and clean water.

Impact on Tourism

Tourism contributed in total to more than $8.1 billion to Puerto Rico’s economy, or 8% of the island’s GDP, in 2016. San Juan, Puerto Ricos's capital has been named of the best cities to visit in 2018 by Lonely Planet.

A long way to Recovery

Puerto Rico remains in dire straits more than two month after Hurrican Maria slammed into the island. The hurricane's damages lead to a medical, infrastructure, demographic and econimic crisis. The island's Tourism brings a glimpse of hope in the midst of a paingul recovery.
